The Wild Oracle

Wind and waves create foam that gathers along the shoreline. It is the expression of everything the sea has been churning through underneath the surface. If sea foam found you this week, something in you is emerging after a time of forming.

A goldfish in a small tank grows only a few inches. The same fish in a pond can grow five times that size. When the environment is small, goldfish stunt their own growth to endure it for survival.
Humans do the same thing. In environments that do not fit us, we shrink to survive them. We dim, we contort, we adapt, and after long enough we mistake the shrinking for who we are.
If you find yourself unable to be your full self, maybe it has nothing to do with you, and everything to do with your environment.
In The Studio
I designed a fun decal this week for Wes, my significant other. Who on every trail we walk, if there is a slug on the path, he stops, bends down, and gently relocates it to a safer spot. He has done this for hundreds of slugs and takes it very seriously. He is the kind of person who notices the little things.
The good in your life is only as rich as your attention and the meaning you give it.

In December, I shared that the heart of my work was changing shape. The year leading up to that decision had been full to the brim. My entire life completely changed in the span of one summer, and that doesn’t include the lead up and planning to get there. By the time winter arrived, I knew I needed to step back and tend to the integration happening inside me.
It was a tough call to make. I did not know what would come next. I only knew I needed to trust that what was next would find its own timing. My energy ebbs and flows with the seasons, and forcing myself against that rhythm serves no one.
